Glittering Nightscapes

Flash Area.

Please note that this exhibition closed on Thursday, November 12, 2009

The PHOTO IS gallery, on the first floor of FUJIFILM SQUARE, is pleased to present the photo exhibition Glittering Nightscapes, which runs from October 6 to November 12, 2009.

Light has become an indispensable feature of modern-day life, enabling 24-hour safety and security and enhancing our quality of life in countless ways. The viewing of nightscapes and illuminations engenders a sense of beauty and feelings of happiness. However, this type of light doesn't merely shine on a single space or object, but also illuminates a different kind of light in our hearts and enriches us. This is because these glittering nightscapes are works of art that have the power to inspire a range of emotional reactions.

This photo exhibition features super-enlarged images of many of the world's most famous nightscapes, including Naples, Hong Kong, Hakodate, Paris and London, which have been captured using silver halide film for enhanced clarity and photographic expression that make the scenes really come alive.

As part of efforts to combat global warming, many places are using energy-saving light bulbs and undertaking other measures to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The photo exhibition will also include a special corner that introduces the various efforts Fujifilm is currently conducting toward environmental and ecological preservation.

Several related events will also be held to coincide with the exhibition, including a talk show featuring a number of photographers whose works will be on display.

We look forward to extending a very cordial welcome to you all.
