A Stroll Through the Ocean - The Underwater World of Ikuo Nakamura

Flash Area.

Please note that this exhibition closed on Wednesday, April 7, 2010

The PHOTO IS gallery, on the first floor of FUJIFILM SQUARE, is pleased to present the photo exhibition A Stroll Through the Ocean -- The Underwater World of Ikuo Nakamura, which runs from February 27 to April 7, 2010.

The exhibition features several works by underwater photographer Ikuo Nakamura, including a number of photos taken especially for the exhibition. Nakamura's works seek to capture the diverse range of emotions that fish and other sea creatures convey through their facial expressions as they swim and glide happily around their natural habitats, and displayed works include shots of newly-born fish swimming happily alongside their often anxious parents. This unique exhibition of works represent the many years Nakamura has spent beneath the waves in his attempts to depict the ocean world, and has been planned to enable visitors to enjoy an underwater world experience as if they were actually there.

We are also pleased to present a special corner featuring Nakamura's vast body of work devoted to the diverse variety of life that exists in Tokyo Bay, which also provides an opportunity for visitors to further contemplate the natural environment.

The exhibition displays a wide range of works with a subject matter that is largely unfamiliar to the majority of us in our daily lives, and includes reproductions of a diverse array of sea life that will evoke a range of emotions. We very much hope that you will come along and experience the power of photographs to convey the natural world in all its splendor.
