The "PHOTO IS" Gallery at FUJIFILM SQUARE is pleased to present A Journey Through the World's Heritage Sites, a photo exhibition divided into two separate parts. Part 1, Natural Creations - A Selection of Natural Heritage Sites runs from February 27 to March 25, 2009. while Part 2, Creations of Mankind - A Selection of Cultural Heritage Sites, opens on March 27 and runs through to April 27, 2009.

World Heritage Sites are outstanding examples of natural phenomena or historical manmade creative genius, and have been designated as heritage sites for the posterity of the entire world.

Designated cultural heritage sites are areas of exceptional natural beauty, grand scale, or are vital areas of conservation for ecosystems or communities of plants and animals. Cultural heritage sites include buildings, structures, etc. that constitute masterpieces of human creative genius, and outstanding examples of cultural history. Many of the world's cultural heritage sites contain a distinctive beauty that makes them perfect photographic subjects.

This photo exhibition consists of selected works by such luminaries of the Japanese photographic world as Takeshi Mizukoshi, Yoshiharu Sekino, Ikuo Nakamura, Kazuyoshi Nomachi, Kazuyoshi Miyoshi and Hiromi Nagakura, who have captured the beauty and value of several of the world's heritage sites with a power and creative expression only possible with silver halide film.

In addition, we will be holding a talk show, a world heritage site quiz and selecting winners of original prints of some of the photographic works on display throughout the exhibition period.
