Please note that this exhibition closed on Thursday, October 1, 2009

The PHOTO IS gallery, on the first floor of FUJIFILM SQUARE, is pleased to present A Photo Journey Through Switzerland, a photo exhibition organized by Switzerland Tourism, the tourism department of the government of Switzerland. The exhibition runs from August 28 to October 1, 2009.

Switzerland is home to a diverse array of breathtaking scenery, from the magnificent mountain of the Alps, snowcapped peaks, majestic glaciers, beautiful lakes and rivers, through to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Not quite so well known is the fact that Switzerland boasts some of the finest railways in the world, including the stunning Rhaetian Railway, which serves the major resorts of St. Moritz and Davos. In 2008, the Rhaetian Railway in the Albula and Bernina Landscapes was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Switzerland also houses Europe's highest railway station, Jungfraujoch, located at an altitude of 3,454 meters, and the Rigi Railway line which is Europe's oldest mountain railway. A journey on Swiss railways rewards the passenger with a diverse array of breathtaking views, including awe-insprinig mountains, and according to the seasons, great lakes with mirror-like surfaces and peaceful mountainside meadows and pasturelands.

The photo exhibition features works from several photographers who have fallen in love with Switzerland and have captured its magnificence throughout the four seasons. The photographers have captured their images using silver halide film to further enhance the clarity and power of the photographic expression they seek.

An added feature of the exhibition is the screening of the animated film, Heidi, first shown 35 years ago, and a panel of photos and animations depicting Switzerland's breathtaking scenery. Moreover, a diorama displaying the wonders of the Swiss scenery will also be set up throughout the duration of the exhibition.

The exhibition will also host a talk show by contributors with deep personal attachments to Switzerland, and feature a range of related events including Swiss manufactured products, arranged with the kind cooperation of leading Swiss manufacturers.

Why not come along with the family for a real Swiss experience.
